The Inner Circle

Make lasting friendships with people who are like-minded and those who seem different from you. Your friendships should expand to different circles. Don’t be afraid to mix and mingle between different social circles. Often times, you surround ourselves with people who are going to help you get to the next level. Your life will only reach the level of those you interact with. Like the old saying goes, birds of a feather flock together. You will be exactly like those around you. No matter how big your dreams are, if you stick with the same set of friends who aren’t pushing you and themselves to do better, you will always remain stagnant. High school friends are beautiful but, they are not always going to be the same people we bring with us into adulthood. Why? Because what you want out of life will begin to change. You will start to notice that some of your friends are okay with just making it by.

That is why I stressed the importance of creating a diverse friend group. Broaden your circle. You never know where one friendship could take you. As much as you love your friends right now, they may be a hindrance. Don’t be afraid to hang with the “nerd” in math class. One day he could be the key to a landing a job with a huge company. Always make your network equal your net-worth. If you box yourself in to just knowing your childhood friends, you are limiting yourself. Get to know and make friends with good people from all walks of life. You never know who they might become!
