Stubborn Control.

Control or having control plays a major role in our unhappiness. We feel as though if we do not have control then we will lose our minds. We feel good when we control the anger, hurt, and our slew of negative emotions. Somehow we get satisfaction from controlling the negative. We tend to think that we can control what affects us. But, that is furthest from the truth. Our greatest struggle is with releasing control. We feed off control because we want to feel the power. At some point, we lost our power, and having control over it now helps us. For instance, think of the trauma or issue that plagues you. Most times, you had taken solace in knowing that you can control the trigger. You keep it locked away and control it. But, that control is manifesting in ugly ways in your life. It’s causing you to be angry, disgruntled, and unhappy. To see a brighter side, you need to let it go. Controlling it is not making the situation better. It feels like you are making the right choice, but in actuality, you are doing yourself a disservice.

So what is a better choice? I would never tell you something is the right choice because I do not live your life. But I can challenge you to think about what are better choices. A better choice to being so stubbornly controlling is to let it go. Release what has held you captive. Trying to maintain control over your pain has kept you in a cage, as well. You didn’t even realize you lost the best parts of yourself because you wanted to hold onto the worse parts. Set it free. Set it free so you can free yourself. Relinquish that need for control. That’s how you gain your power back.
