Your friends aren’t your target audience. Most of them won’t even support you until it looks beneficial. You have to do it for all the strangers supporting you. All the people you count on as friends, honestly, don’t want to see you doing better than them. So, their support will be nonexistent until they can brag about knowing you. They’ll brag on your name as if they were a part of the struggle. But like Rick Ross said, “Bitch, You wasn’t with me shooting in the gym!” This is meant to remind you to refocus and STOP trying to get your friend’s support. They don’t matter. Focus on EVERYONE else. Your clientele is not your friend from middle school, your high school best friend or your homegirl that you grab drinks with. Don’t rely on them to make your business thrive. If you do it will sadly fail. This isn’t an indictment against your friends. I mean, I would rethink the friendship BUT, sometimes it’s bigger than you. Don’t harbor on that. Work on catching the eye of every other person. They’ll come along or they won’t. It shouldn’t change your hustle. You have to get comfortable with the idea that your supporters are people you hardly know. You supporters are the relationships you build along the way. Think BIGGER than the people on your block or in your neighborhood. Don’t limit yourself to just the few followers you have. Your reach is GLOBAL, act like it.
